Privacy Policy
Effective: April 28, 2026 · Last updated: April 28, 2026
Hitch is operated by AgileDevs Incorporated ("Hitch", "we", "us"), based in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Hitch web app at runhitch.com, the Hitch iOS or Android mobile app, or the Hitch API. We aim to be straightforward.
1. What we collect
When you sign up and use Hitch, we collect:
- Account information: your email address, first and last name, and the organization (contractor company) you belong to. Authentication is provided by Clerk (clerk.com); their privacy policy applies to that data.
- Operational information: data your dispatcher enters about your work — crew assignments, hitch dates, ticket and certification statuses, camp room assignments, travel manifests, swap requests, and check-in responses.
- Device information: standard logs from your web browser or mobile device when you use the app — IP address, device type, OS version, app version, and timestamps. Used for security and debugging.
- Wellbeing check-in responses: if you complete optional pre/mid/post-hitch check-ins, we store your responses (fatigue, stress, family-strain self-ratings; whether you asked to talk to someone). See section 4 below for how these are handled.
2. How we use it
We use your information to:
- Run the Hitch service — schedule crews, allocate beds, build manifests, etc.
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- Show you your assignments, travel info, and ticket statuses.
- Help your dispatcher manage operations on the team they supervise — but only data scoped to the contractor you belong to.
- Send necessary operational notifications (e.g. schedule changes, hitch reminders).
3. What we don't do
- We don't sell your information to anyone, ever.
- We don't share your data with operators (the oil and gas companies your contractor works for) unless your contractor explicitly opts in to a data-sharing integration.
- We don't use your data to train AI models without your contractor's explicit permission.
- We don't run advertising. There are no third-party ad trackers in our apps.
4. Wellbeing check-in privacy
Wellbeing check-ins are designed to support workers in safety-sensitive remote environments, not to surveil them.
- Your individual responses are never shown to your supervisor, dispatcher, or any other co-worker. Supervisors only see aggregate signals across a crew (e.g. "average fatigue this hitch") and threshold alerts (e.g. "3 workers requested support").
- If you indicate you want to talk to someone, we can route you to your contractor's configured support resource (Employee Assistance Program, CMHA Alberta, or similar). We do not disclose the fact of your request to your supervisor by name.
- You can decline check-ins at any time. They are optional.
5. Where your data lives
Hitch's databases are hosted by Neon (neon.tech) in the United States (AWS us-east-1). Authentication is handled by Clerk (clerk.com), also in the US. The Hitch web app is hosted by Vercel (vercel.com). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (provider-managed encryption).
Although Hitch is built in Alberta and serves Canadian contractors, your data may be stored or processed in the United States by these service providers. By using Hitch, you consent to this transfer. We are evaluating Canadian-region hosting for a future release.
6. Your rights
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to:
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your account and the data tied to you.
To exercise any of these rights, email peter.chinaka@agiledevsconsulting.com. We respond within 30 days.
7. Data retention
We keep operational data (schedules, hitches, assignments, tickets) for as long as your contractor account is active, plus a reasonable archive period after deactivation to satisfy payroll and audit requirements. You can request earlier deletion under section 6.
8. Children
Hitch is not intended for use by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
9. Changes to this policy
When we change this policy, we update the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, we will notify active users via email or in-app notice before the changes take effect.
